Planning & Licensing

The Community Council will use thes page for any items relating to planning permissions and licensing that are relevant to Sleat. As a general rule the Councillors will review any domestic planning applications for the area, and take appropriate action as necessary. The Council has no formal input into planning applications but if asked for support will discuss any actions required. Community Councils are Statutory Consultees for Planning, but they are not the decision makers. They feed into the planning process and inform the Planning Authority of the views of the local community on an application or consultation. Their local knowledge informs the Planning Authority of aspects that might not have been considered.

For all information relating to any aspect of planning permission in the Highland Council area you can click the link below.  This includes looking at current and past applications, fees, building warrants or developments that may be allowed without permission under permitted development rights.

Please also remember if you are planning to build a dwelling or perhaps a major project you will be required to pay 'developers fees', as a contribution  to the local community such as schools, road improvements and affordable housing.  It is currently around £600 for a single dwelling.
