Public Meeting to discuss the sale of the Clan Donald Estates
Added at 14:00 on 03 April 2025
An early reminder of the public meeting being held in the auditorium of ÀRAINN CHALUIM CHILLE at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Monday 7th April at 1900.
The meeting will be hosted by Sleat Community Trust / Urras Coimhearsnachd Shlèite and The Sleat Community Council together with representatives from the crofting community and will provide an update following the sudden and shock announcement last week of the sale of the Clan Donald Estate and subsequently Armadale Castle and Gardens and the Museum of the Isles.
As many will know that has been widespread condemnation across Sleat, Skye, Scotland and overseas of the lack of engagement by the Clan Donald Lands Trust concerning the sale. The matter was discussed again in Holyrood yesterday and the call to pause the sale has been voiced by MSPs across the parties. CDLT responded this week stating.
'Given CDLT’s immediate financial challenges and overriding legal duties, we are unable to withdraw South Sleat Estate from the market.'
All are welcome to attend on Monday evening where you can share your views and ask questions from the key local community groups.
There is ample parking at the college site.
Please share.
