Added at 08:18 on 10 September 2024
Thanks to everyone who came along to Armadale Stores on Saturday to share their views for the future of Sleat as the community creates its Local Place Plan. There were some great ideas and suggestions which will now be collated by members of the community council.
The good news is that there are now four more dates where you will have the opportunity to share your own thoughts.
These are:
Tuesday 10 September (today) 12 to 2pm at the Community Cafe in Ardvasar Hall
Saturday 14 September in An Crùbh Cafe time TBA
Saturday 21 September, Armadale Stores time TBA
Tuesday 24 September, 12 TO 2pm at the Community Cafe in Ardvasar Hall
To make life a little easier this is a very short synopsis of what a Local Place Plan means. We hope you can join at one of these events.
'Sleat, like other communities, faces several challenges: housing, education, health and an aging population, economic development, tourism, sustainability, marine protection, and the impact of wind generation. Local Place Plans (LPPs) are our chance to shape how some of this future will look. This brief note explains the background to LPPs and what we need to do in order to create our own for Sleat.
The LPP gives us a voice in the planning system and a chance to capture ideas in the community. It lets us create our vision for living, working, learning, enjoying and sustaining Sleat.
LPPs are grounded in what people want. Aspirations, priorities and projects are co-designed by the local community through effective community engagement. Some proposals will be quick wins; others might take a lot more planning and many years to deliver. Some can be done by us, others will require external funding and partnerships.'
