Ward Forum-Change of date

Added on 18 May 2013

Message from Liz Cowie, Ward Manager

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the Ward Forum date has had to be changed and will now take place on Monday 10th June.  The date change has meant that the Scottish Ambulance Service cannot now attend – they will instead attend the 2nd September Forum.

The Forum focus will now be on Council Services with Planning and Development, TEC Services and Education, Culture & Sport in attendance giving overviews of their service provision relative to Skye.  Also giving updates will be Police, Highland & Islands Fire & Rescue Service and NHS (specifically to report back on the Redesign of Healthcare Services).  The meeting will take place in Tigh na Sgire from 2.00 – 4.00 pm.

For meeting organisation, it would be appreciated if you could advise Fay MacRae if your Community Council is attending and who the representative will be.

Environmental Project Funding

The Councillors have agreed that funding for environmental projects will be made available to the Ward Community Councils again this year.  The amounts are as follows:

o   (Broadford and Strath – currently in abeyance)

o   Dunvegan - £500

o   Glendale - £250

o   Kilmuir - £250

o   Kyleakin & Kylerhea - £250

o   Minginish - £250

o   Portree - £1000

o   Raasay - £250

o   Sconser - £250

o   Skeabost - £250

o   Sleat - £250

o   Staffin - £250

o   Struan - £250

o   Uig - £250

o   Waternish - £250

The application process is being clarified due to a change in the process for application for any grant funding from the Highland Council.  There is now a standard application form and all funding application forms are logged on a central grants system.  I have been advised that even small grants such as those offered have to go through the same process- but I will advise on this when it is clarified.  In the meantime if your Community Council is interested in applying for the grant, please let Fay MacRae know.
