Drop in sessions and Public Meeting this week

Added on 19 May 2013

Further to the withdrawal of the Planning Application from Marine Harvest for a fish farm at Suisnish Point in January 2013, we now know Hjaltland are hoping to develop up to three fish farms in Lochs Eishort and Slapin.  As the process starts, public consultation is being made and I would draw your attention to two events this coming week, the drop-in session organised by Hjaltland to brief the public on a one-to-one basis and an open meeting chaired by Sleat Community Council to inform and engage the Community.  Sleat Community Council wished to hold a public meeting with a Q&A session involving Hjaltland management but this invitation was declined as they felt their drop-in sessions would be more productive, in their experience public meetings are taken over by one or two individuals imposing their views on those attending such events.
