Message from See Me Scotland

Added on 28 June 2015

I was wondering if any of your members would be interested in the volunteering opportunity below?

I would be grateful if you could circulate the below advert to relevant parties in your organisation and encourage people to apply for this opportunity.

Are you someone who understands the impact mental health stigma and discrimination can have on people's lives?  Would you like to join See Me and help lead a programme of change across Scotland?
We are currently seeking volunteer Community Champions in the North West area of Scotland. This includes Highlands and Islands, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland.

The Community Champions programme equips and empowers people who want to take action against mental health discrimination to be strong leaders in their local area. The programme aims to change behaviour in communities,  by working with individuals to build their confidence and skills to challenge stigma and inspire others to do so.

Those that have a personal experience of mental health problems will bring a unique perspective to this volunteer role.  Please see our website for more details of what is involved in becoming a Community Champion. You must be able to attend a selection session on 24th July in Inverness and commit to three one and a half days training on the following dates; 20th-21st August, 24th-25th September and 15th-16th October.

Accommodation and expenses will be provided to enable your participation. For more information and to apply please see  our websitehttps://www.seemescotland.org/our-movement-for-change/supporters/champions/
