Meeting with Scottish Water 8th July
Added on 11 July 2015
Roddy Murray and Rob Ware met informally yesterday with representatives of the north area division of Scottish Water. The purpose was to provide the community with an update on projects and forthcoming work ahead of them meeting us at the CC meeting in September. The key items to come from yesterday's session are as follow:
The works at the Teangue WTW are now complete which has been to provide new filtration systems to try to prevent disruption to the process caused by bad weather affecting Loch Carmichael. Until we get really bad weather the plant is fully unable to say if the project has been a total success but at this time it is believed that the works carried out will do what was planned.
SW are planning a new project again the Treatment Work this time to build an extension to the plant to provide a brand new 'chloramination' unit. This is a process where treated water including chlorine is mixed with small levels of ammonia to remove the smell of chlorine in the water that comes to your tap. Planning permission is now being sought and SW will update us on the whole project in September. For further information see the link below.
The company is also purchasing a number of new and expensive mobile generators for the north area so that in tines of power failures these can be taken to pumping stations to ensure continuing supply. Again more information in September.
NEW Customer Helpline - 0800 0778 778
Scottish Water operates a freephone Customer Helpline (but there may be a charge if you use a mobile) to handle any of your enquiries; this line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have pressure or quality/taste issues or have a leak then all customers should call the helpline to report it. This will ensure the local teams are aware of any issues as soon as they are raised by the public.
If further information is needed please get in touch with the SCC on info@sleatcommunitycouncil.org.uk
